It’s rather shocking that still in 2019 in Europe, the richest continent in the world, 1 in 4 children are at risk of poverty. This means millions of children are impeded from reaching their full potential by their parent’s income. But it also and, more importantly, means that millions of children are living without adequate housing, healthcare, education or nutrition.
It’s time to put an end to this. It’s time to eradicate child poverty and ensure no child is left behind. That’s why S&D has put forward a proposal to establish a European Child guarantee that can ensure every child has access to healthy nutrition and health care, education and housing.
